Kalshi Faces Legal Issues in Nevada Over Prediction Markets
One of the fastest-growing prediction markets in America, Kalshi, has encountered a significant obstacle in Nevada. The Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) has issued a cease and desist order to Kalshi, declaring that its products are considered illegal gaming activities.

In a letter to Kalshi, the NGCB stated that event-based contracts related to sports and political outcomes are unlawful unless explicitly approved and licensed by the regulator. Even licensed operators in Nevada are prohibited from offering such products. Kalshi gained immense popularity during the recent presidential election when users placed millions of bets on the final outcome.
However, such wagers contradict Nevada’s public policy, prompting the NGCB to order Kalshi to halt its operations and leave Nevada by March 14. Despite the order, Kalshi has not responded or issued a statement regarding the situation.
